About

When deciding to start my own blog, the first thought that came to mind was, “What the hell am I going to name this thing?” After all, the title sets the tone for the entire project. It needed to be descriptive, but not too focused. This is a general lifestyle blog, after all.  It had to have the right blend of honesty, and humor, with a slight bit of self- deprecation thrown in for good measure. A tall order, for sure.
After much deliberation, I came back to a movie line that I had absolutely loved from the first time it entered my lexicon. If you haven’t seen Arthur with Russel Brand and Helen Mirren, I definitely recommend it. The combination of his effusive charm, and her acerbic wit is perfect. That delicious mix is what led to a line that gave me the title of this blog. While discussing Arthur’s rather unusual lifestyle, Hobson explains her presence as his lifelong nanny with the very succinct, “He’s merely shaped like an adult.” It was perfect.

So often I feel that I have all the general components of adulthood, but rarely seem to get them in all their proper places. I have a job I enjoy, a cozy little apartment, two wonderful puppies, an incredible boyfriend, and an absurdly awesome family. It turns out that inching up on 30 isn’t nearly as painful as I expected. I love who I am, and I am proud of the life I’ve created. That being said, about half the time I feel like I’m barely keeping it all together. The ultimate fake it ’til ya make it lifestyle. So I am merely shaped like an adult. In so many ways, it’s that simple fact that makes my life so great. Each day is filled with its own challenges and rewards.

That’s basically what this blog is about. The point of this project is to share snapshots of my little world with anyone who’s interested. My posts will be about the beautiful variety of things that make my life my own. Everything from random anecdotes, to successful cooking adventures, to nights with my favorite people. I promise it will be honest, and heartfelt. Some things might be funny, and others challenging. I can guarantee that not everyone will like everything I have to say, and that’s ok. I can also guarantee that I will be unabashedly, unapologetically myself at all times. Unless Jason (my boyfriend) is guest blogging. Then he’ll be unabashedly, unapologetically himself. It’s kind of what we do best. Hope you enjoy it!
